Largest Field Yet taken the green at Ukiah

The Pacific Challenge Series group showed up in force for the return of the PCS to Ukiah Speedway. The weather was perfect and the track and pits were spectacular. 14 cars were on hand for Fridays extended practice. Big thanks go out to David Furia and his staff from all the PCS racers , crews and staff for making this such a welcoming and exciting event. Saturday saw the highest PCS car count yet with 19 cars filling the newly paved pits.
This event drew cars from all over the north state area. David Miller from Oregon as well as cars from the Valley like Philpott, Beeler, Scribner, Hite, Allen, Gant, Hodges and Jones all came to race with the Ukiah area favorites of Roddy, Hirschbock ,Knight, Dalerio, Anderson, Yapelli, Cashada, Gibney and Nelson. The fans were in for a treat. Teams showed they were more than ready to put on a great show when the practice times started coming in showing a lot of speed and at least a dozen cars all within a tenth of each other. Junior Roddy put down the fastest qualifying lap winning the Sunoco Fuels fast time award. Justin Philpott, David Miller, Austin Gant, Allen Gibney, and Chris Scribner rounded out the top 6 on the speed charts and would set the 6 car 6 lap dash. Chris Scribner jumped out to an early lead in the sprint race and never looked back winning the Diverse Machine and Fab $100 dash for cash.

One of the coolest most notable parts of the weekend was the National Anthem that had the 6 Dash cars making a parade lap while proudly displaying American Flags from each car. It was quite a sight as all the crews came out to the infield for the singing of the anthem as the sun was setting. We had a video crew there that got a lot of the action from the pits and the race and will be posting on You Tube soon, Check it out!!

The PenneyLawyers.com 75 lap main event would kick off with an 8 car invert of the field. Fast timer Roddy would have his work cut out for him getting up through the close knit group. A full field of 19 cars was an awesome sight on the oval as the PCS racers all took the green flag and got the race under way. Allen Gibney fell out in the opening laps with ignition trouble unfortunately ending his night. Kieth Nelson , who started on point , would jump out to a commanding lead and looked to have the field covered until a broken axle sidelined his run at the win.The race ran fairly incident free as the PCS drivers all raced each other hard but clean. Mechanical problems seemed to be the downfall of several teams. Justin Philpott retired early after a hard charge in the front group and fast timer Junior Roddy dropped out after fighting with power steering failure. In the end Chris Scribner raced his way to the front and set sail on a strong run to the end, taking the checkers in his first PCS win and the $1500.00 payday. David Miller was on a great run, keeping out of trouble and bringing home a strong second place finish. Mike Beeler looked fast all weekend in his Mike David prepared car and finished in the third spot . Fourth spot was Bobby Hodges in a Naake Motorsports car and Bobby Hirschbock brought home fifth spot for the I-5 tire team.

All in all it was one of the most enjoyable race weekends ever with lots of cars, lots of fun and great racing. We can’t wait to get back there on September 6th and do it all again.

The first PCS race of the season is in the books. A nice 16 car field set the stage for another exciting night of racing. We were excited to see several new faces joining the PCS series for 2014 adding new competition for our returning hot shots as we hit the tracks again this year.
Our opening event at Stockton 99 was a great start to the PCS season. Friday practice showed that the cars were tuned and ready as the racers were laying down some fast laps. Saturdays qualifying saw Eric Schmidt in his Sierra Speed ride put down the fastest lap with a blistering 13.386, besting his last years PCS Stockton time by 2 tenths and winning the Sunoco race fuels $100 fast time award. Danny Allen and Dylan Hutchinson both racing with Naake prepared cars took the next two spots and Mike Beeler in a brand new car built at Mike David’s racing products, rounded out the top 4 and made up a great trophy dash. Danny Allen showed his speed by jumping to a quick paced lead and holding it for the 4 lap sprint, claiming the Diverse Machine and Fab dash for cash.
Fast timer, Eric Schmidt, drew the ball for a ten invert setting up a challenge for the fast guys to work their way up through the field.
The 75 lap Main event saw Keith Nelson in the 6n car, with help from Mike and Jeremy Doss, start on the pole and jump out to an early lead looking very solid. A very determined Stockton 99 regular Justin Philpott was on the move and eventually took over the lead spot and looked like he was going to be the car to beat. As the laps were winding down Eric Schmidt had skillfully worked his way up towards the front and was hunting Philpott. After a great cat and mouse battle Schmidt took over the lead fighting off a couple of late race restart challenges to take the checkered flag with Philpott, Hutchinson, and Allen rolling strong right behind him.
A big thanks goes out to our PCS competitors for putting on a great race for our fans and making the whole weekend a fun event.
We are looking forward to our next race on May 17th that brings us back into Ukiah Speedway. We anticipate a great car count there as well as several of our guys are still finishing their cars

We are excited to announce that we have added OCT 11 at All American Speedway as our season ending championship points race.  This event will be an exciting finish to our season.  Big Thanks goes out to Bill McAnnally Racing for their help in facilitating a PCS race on this Nascar K&N race weekend at AAS.  This event will be a great opportunity to showcase our high energy racing and talented drivers to a huge crowd of fans, spectators, and media.  There will be increased payouts and bonuses that will be announced in the weeks to come that will make this a “must attend” event for Late Model Racers and fans throughout the region.
