PREVIEW: ALL AMERICAN SPEEDWAY ON DECK SATURDAY NIGHT FOR PCS

SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA (September 15, 2017) – The Pacific Challenge Series presented by PenneyLawyers.com closes its 2017 Super Late Model season with a pair of races at Roseville’s All American Speedway, beginning Saturday night.  Saturday’s race is the ninth round of the series and serves as the makeup to an April rainout.  The series championship will be crowned October 14th in Roseville as well.
Eight different drivers have won the eight races so far in one of the most competitive seasons in PCS history. Six of the eight were first-time series winners as well.
Granite Bay’s Cole Moore, the 2015 PCS Rookie of the Year, snared his first career win when he led 95 laps for a narrow victory over Mike Beeler in June.  Moore ranks third in the points standings looking for his second career victory on Saturday.
His father John Moore, 2015 PCS champion, leads Beeler by just two points in the torrid title battle.  Two points represents just one position on the race track in the paper thin margin between the duo.  Beeler has yet to win this year but has run outside the top-five only once.  He has three second place finishes and three fourth place finishes this year.
Galt’s Matt Wendt runs fourth in the standings after winning on September 2nd at Stockton 99 Speedway for his first career victory.  2017 leading rookie Jack Wood of Loomis is fifth ahead of his cousin Travis Milburn.  Milburn is one of several drivers with ten career PCS starts at Roseville with one victory and seven top-fives in his career.
Tracy Bolin is seventh ahead of Roseville’s 2009 track champion Jason Romero in eighth.  Romero won all four Roseville races last year but did not run the June race with his father mark driving to an eighth place finish.  Elk Grove’s Mike Hite is ninth in the standings with a best finish of eighth this season.
Rounding out the top-ten is three-time track champion Matt Scott still looking for his first PCS victory.  Scott finished third in June after coming back from a spin.  He also finished fourth at Stockton two weeks ago.
Chris Scribner of Loomis ranks 11th overall while Roseville favorite Shannon Mansch led the first five laps in June and has a previous PCS win at her home track.  Reno, NV’s Randy Hedrick is also expected in action with his win at Ukiah in July highlighting his 2017 season.
15 year-old Austin Herzog of Clovis, a five-time Jr. Late Model winner, will make his second career PCS start after debuting in August at Madera Speedway.  Herzog notably led laps in last year’s Short Track Shootout $10,000 to win Late Model race in Madera.
Drivers are eyeing the tenth round of the series on October 14th, which returns as a points race after two years as a non-points event.  The PCS competes during the prestigious NASCAR K&N Pro Series, West weekend with the championship finale for the North State Modifieds and open shows for Bombers and F4/Skid Plate cars also on the menu.  Perhaps the largest event at All American Speedway in at least 20 years should attract 100 race cars to the pits and 4,000 fans in the stands.
Pre-entry is open now with pre-entries accepted until October 6th to be eligible for a large number of lucrative contingency prizes.  Entry forms are available at: http://pacificchallengeseries.com/wp-content/uploads/2017OctoberClassicEntry.pdf
This Saturday’s Round #9 of the PCS sees an open practice on Friday evening before action on Saturday.  Saturday night racing including a full card of Roseville divisions begins at 6 p.m.  Adult tickets are $15, while children ages 6-15 and seniors are $7.  Kids 5 and under are FREE.
